What is a Vocation?
A Vocation is a call from God to do something specifically for God and for His kingdom. The primary vocation of every person is to be holy! It is the divine calling to love and serve God, to obey his commandments, and to cooperate with Christ in the work of redemption by loving and serving others. Everyone is called to live the vocation of holiness, but everyone lives it in a special and unique way according to the plan of God.
“Listen for the Call”
The life of discipleship begins not with a choice but with a call. “I have called you by name, you are mine” (Is 43:1) These endearing words of God ensure us of the intimate love that God has for each of us. These words are an invitation to trust in his promise and to follow him. They are words that summon us to come to know God’s will for us, and to see his will our own life and happiness. God’s call is personal, addresses us by name, makes us his unique possession and through this, leads us in service to other people.

For young men and women who are simply beginning to think about a priestly or religious vocation and for young men and women who are prepared to examine the steps to make a commitment, St. Paul Parish Vocation Ministry is here to assist you in your discernment.
The mission of St. Paul Parish Vocation Ministry is to empower men and women to discern God’s call to ordained ministry and consecrated life through activities that promote and increase awareness, educate and facilitate relationship. This mission is born from our participation in the life of Christ, which comes through our common baptism.
Fr. Kevin Huber, Vocation Director of the Office for Vocations in the Diocese of Gary, has led the Parish Vocation Team in formation.
Vocations Cross
Pray that the master of the harvest send out workers for his harvest” ( Mt 9:38)
Devotion to the Vocation Cross involves a designated parishioner/parish family taking the cross into their home for one week and praying a few minutes every day for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Participants are commissioned at the 10:00 AM Sunday Mass. Contact Barb Kubisak if you are interested in participating @ 405-8591.
