RCIA for Adults
How does a person become a Catholic? – Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
If you or someone you know are interested in becoming a Catholic, inquiry sessions are held on Monday evenings from 7:00-9:00 pm in the lower level of the Tiny Tim Child Development Center. These meeting are for those who:
- have not been baptized or
- were baptized in another Christian denomination or
- were baptized Catholic but have not complete the Sacraments of Initiation
(Confirmation and Eucharist).
“I truly enjoyed my time on Monday nights, learning not only the traditions and beliefs of the Catholic Church”, said Angie Koselke, “but growing spiritually as we studied the scripture readings each week. The learning process was very educational but we also were able to learn and grow from each others experiences and knowledge. We became a family, comfortable with the group, as we shared needs and concerns. I am very thankful I was able to be a part of the process and thankful for the knowledge I have gained.”
For more information about the process, please call Deacon Mike Foster evenings at 464-8103 or Mary Mauer days at 464-4831 (parish).
If you are a parishioner who would like to become involved in RCIA, this is a team-oriented ministry of evangelization and catechesis, which aims to fulfill the directives of the Second Vatican Council for the initiation of adults into the Roman Catholic faith. The ministry consists of a team of parishioners as well as sponsors and additional parish support personnel. Those invited to participate include those who wish to become Roman Catholic, those interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, and those who are now Roman Catholic and seek an increased understanding or updating of their faith. Meetings are held on Monday evenings in the lower level of Tiny Tim’s Center from 7:00-9:00 pm. Sessions involve faith sharing with respect for the traditions brought by participants, formal catechesis, and liturgical celebration. Participation as an inquirer, team member, or sponsor is open to all. No prior training or knowledge is required and the process if offered without cost to the participant.
